What each deal actually means

Nobody explains this to a creator starting out, so here it is plainly. None of these is wrong — but knowing which one you are agreeing to is the difference between a career and a cupboard full of free samples.

Paid
A fee in rupees, held in escrow before you shoot and released when the work is approved.
Barter + fee
You keep the product and you are paid on top. The fee is escrowed the same as any paid booking.
Commission
You earn a percentage of what your link sells. No fee up front, so the upside is yours if it works.
Ambassador
An ongoing retainer over several months rather than one post. Steadier money, longer commitment.
Barter
Product or service only, no fee. Fine for something you wanted anyway — think twice if it is not.
Collaboration
No money either way. You are trading audiences, so check theirs is real before you agree.

State the deal, state the number.

Brands who say what a collaboration pays get creators who actually fit. Paid work is funded before anyone shoots, and barter is labelled as barter.
